An E-C Translation Of Spring Reign(Excerpts) And Its Work Report

It is an English-Chinese practice report.This section of the source language is selected from Chapter Nineteen of Jaye Patrick’s love novel Spring Reign.In this report,we take Skopos theory as the guiding theory,analyze the translation from the principles of Skopos rule,Coherence rule and Fidelity rule,and adopt specific translation strategies and methods to solve the main translation problems such as character description,social environment description and culture loaded words,in order to reproduce the interest of the translation,improve the readability of the translation,and make the translation readers feel similar to the original text readers.This translation practice takes Skopos theory as the guiding theory,and selects specific translation strategies and methods according to specific translation purposes.In the process of translation,it is particularly important to achieve the purpose of the translation.Secondly,we should pay attention to the coherence and readability of the translation.In addition,we should be faithful to the content of the original text and the author’s intention.Under the guidance of Skopos rule,the author adopts the method of addition and omission in translating the original text.The coherence rule emphasizes that the translation must conform to the standard of intratextual coherence and the expression habits and logic of the target language readers.Under the guidance of the coherence rule,the author adopts restructuring and division when translating the original text.Fidelity Rule emphasizes that the translation must be faithful to the content of the original text and the author’s intention.Under the guidance of the fidelity rule,the author adopts literal translation and free translation.This report includes five chapters.The first chapter is a brief introduction to the Spring Reign,and expounds the essentially of this translation practice;The second chapter describes the process of the translator’s translation practice,which is divided into preparation,translation and Proofreading;The third chapter is the theoretical framework;The fourth chapter is the main content of the report,which makes a case analysis under the guidance of the three principles of Skopos Theory;the fifth chapter summarizes the gains and deficiencies in this translation practice.This translation practice aims to show some of the interesting and touching love stories written by Jaye Patrick.We also accumulates experience in the translation of love novels.At the same time,I hope it can be helpful for the translation of love novels.
