A Report On The Translation Of Three Essays On Energy Economics(Chapters 3-4)

With the development of the times,economic and trade exchanges between countries are becoming increasingly close.Therefore,the translation of economic text is of great significance to promote the exchange of domestic and foreign economic information.This paper is a translation practice report of an economics text.The selected source text is Three Essays on Energy Economics(Chapters 3-4),an American academic paper on economics.The economic text belongs to informative text,which is characterized by objectivity,rigor and professionalism.This report is guided by Nida’s functional equivalence theory,at the lexical level,the translator adopts the translation techniques of zero-translation for terms,abbreviations and words with contextual meaning.At the syntactic level,the translation techniques of sequential,reversing,adjustment of word order and cutting are used for long sentences;the translation techniques of keeping the passive structure unchanged,converting the passive into active,converting the passive voice into a subject-less sentence and converting the passive voice into Chinese idiomatic sentences for passive sentences.At the discourse level,the translation techniques of specific translation and amplification are used for the discourse coherence.It is hoped that this translation practice report will provide a reference for those who are engaged in the translation of similar texts.
