| The text selected for this translation practice is the eighth chapter of Implementing Deeper Learning and 21 st Century Education Reforms.This book is a text of pedagogy,which mainly describes the ways and specific contents of education reform in different countries and regions under the epidemic situation in the 21 st century.It compared the similarities and differences in the implementation of education reform in different regions from multiple dimensions.The adverb was used frequently in the original text.The eighth chapter was contained with many adverbs,which was appeared 137 times.It also endowed with a number of inanimate sentences and long sentences.Therefore,the translator chose to analyze the case from the above three dimensions.With regard to the adverbs’ translation,the translator followed the context of the original text and took the methods of "translating word into sentence" and "conversion of word-class" to complete the meaning of the sentence;For the sentences with inanimate subjects,the translator consulted a large number of documents and combined with the context of the text,then translated the inanimate subject into 4 types:inanimate subject,null subject,adverbial structure and external subject;In the face of the translation of long sentences,translator adopted the methods of " translation in reverse order,separating sentences and synthesis".The principles of “functional equivalence” were applied to improve the accuracy and persuasiveness of the translation,making the information conveyed by the translated version was the same as the source text.Translating this type of text is conducive to improving translator’s competence and also providing some lessons to later students. |
