| Shang Yang was a key political figure during the Warring States period,and the system of titles was regarded as one of the core elements of Shang Yang’s Laws of Change,which in turn was a direct practice of the idea of titles.A study of Shang Yang’s idea of the title system can therefore provide a better understanding of the reasons for the farreaching impact of Shang Yang’s changes.In a turbulent period of history,Shang Yang’s ideas were necessarily a complex synthesis of many historical factors,and the terms of the system were merely a tangible manifestation of his ideas.This article focuses on the idea of the title system in Shang Yang’s thought on the Reformation,and examines the origins and evolution of Shang Yang’s idea of the title system.The article is divided into five chapters: Chapter 1 introduces the rationale and significance of the topic,reviews the current state of domestic and international research on the topic,explains the research methodology,objectives and innovation points,and finally summarises the research content of the thesis and explains the use of literature.The second chapter deals with the embodiment and classification of Shang Yang’s idea of the title system.Firstly,it analyses the connection between the Book of Shang Jun and Shang Yang’s thoughts,then extracts the contents of the Book of Shang Jun that belong to Shang Yang’s thoughts on knighthood,and finally classifies them into "thoughts on knighthood hierarchy","thoughts on knighthood classes" and "thoughts on knighthood rewards" according to their contents.The three main categories are "the idea of the reward of titles" and "the idea of the reward of titles".The third chapter discusses the relationship between the idea of knighthood hierarchy in the Western Zhou and Shang Yang’s idea of knighthood.The article explores the links between Shang Yang’s ideas on the hierarchy of knighthood and the Western Zhou’s ideas on the hierarchy of knighthood in terms of privileges,changes in knighthood and the division of knighthoods.The fourth chapter analyses the connection between the Spring and Autumn conceptions of class and Shang Yang’s idea of knighthood.The article explores the link between this concept and the Spring and Autumn period’s concept of class in terms of the idea of class mobility in the awarding of titles to concubines by Shang Yang and the idea of "class-equality" in the idea of knighthood,which contains both the idea of hierarchy and the idea of class mobility.The chapter also explores the social environment in which Shang Yang’s ideas of rank and class were formed,as well as Shang Yang’s thinking based on reality,and explains the reasons for the formation of such ideas.Chapter 5 examines the connection between the idea of reward in the Warring States and the idea of Shang Yang’s title system.The article examines the relationship between Shang Yang’s idea of rewarding titles in terms of the decoupling of words and titles,the awarding of titles for merit,and the awarding of titles for agriculture and warfare,and the idea of rewarding titles during the Warring States period.This article examines the development and formation of Shang Yang’s idea of knighthood,and explores the origins and evolution of Shang Yang’s idea of knighthood,which has certain theoretical value. |
