| Wang Xizhi was a famous scholar of the Wei and Jin dynasties.He excelled in many calligraphic styles,and his outstanding calligraphic works have been handed down to future generations,and he has been praised as the "Sage of Calligraphy".Among them,the regular script in small characters Huangting Sutra is one of his masterpieces.The artistic,cultural,and ideological values of the Huangting Sutra had a profound impact on the time and future generations.In this paper,we will investigate the Huangting Sutra through documentary research and case study method to understand the artistic value and historical significance of its calligraphic style,so as to gain a more comprehensive understanding of Wang Xizhi’s regular script in small characters and the Huangting Sutra,and to guide the practice through theory,which will give a deeper insight into the way of learning calligraphy.The Huangting Sutra was a Taoist classic that was widely circulated from the Wei and Jin Dynasties to the Tang and Song Dynasties,and the background of Taoist culture contributed to the circulation of his calligraphic works.This article is divided into five chapters and two perspectives.This paper discusses and explores the practice of Wang Xizhi’s regular script in small characters Huangting Sutra in five chapters and two perspectives.In the second chapter,the calligraphic achievements of Wang Xizhi and his masterpieces in the lower case are summarized,and in the second chapter,the influence of Wang Xizhi’s version of the Huangting Sutra is analyzed.The third chapter analyzes Wang Xizhi’s Huangting Sutra in a comprehensive manner in terms of brushwork,style,chapter style,and style,and in conjunction with the previous theoretical study,this chapter explores Wang Xizhi’s regular script in small characters in a three-dimensional and comprehensive manner.Chapter 4 explores the transmission and creation of Wang Xizhi’s lower case in contemporary times,learning from the best contemporaries;Chapter 5 combines the above research with one’s own practice,drawing practical results and testing the appropriateness of the ways and means of learning Wang Xizhi’s lower case in practice.We need to learn the spirit of traditional calligraphy as well as its techniques.In his "Book of Calligraphy",the Tang Dynasty calligrapher Sun Guiting said,"Those who inspect are still refined,and those who are imitated are like." Mr.Qi Baishi also said,"He who learns from me lives,and he who resembles me dies." These words may seem contradictory,but they also dialectically speak to the essence of learning calligraphy,learning to adapt and learning to investigate its essence.This paper takes Wang Xizhi’s regular script in small characters(Huang Ting Sutra)as the object of study,conducts research from the perspective of circulation,style evolution and other calligraphic art,explores the important value of Wang Xizhi’s regular script in small characters in the history of calligraphy development,expounds the guiding significance of Wang Xizhi’s artistic spirit to our creative practice today,and boldly envisions and practices in the hope of better guiding creative practice. |
