A Report On The Simulated Chinese-english Consecutive Translation Of Zhou Bingde’s Symposia Under The Guidance Of Translation Variation Theory

As international exchanges and cooperation has become closer,the amount of information contained in the practice of interpretation has gradually increased.For the sake of enhancing the quality of output and facilitate audiences’ understanding,it is increasingly necessary to use different forms of translation strategies to make changes to the original text with the direction of translation theory in the practice of interpretation.Though translation variation theory is at first utilized to analyze and guide translation work,it also proposes satisfying specific readers’ special demands under specific circumstances when invented at that time.Furthermore,readers and the audiences are all target-language recipients.Thus,it is very necessary to study its applicability and guiding role of the theory in interpreting practices.In June 2021,Capital University of Economics and Business Foreign School invited Comrade Zhou Bingde,the niece of Premier Zhou Enlai,to visit the Premier Zhou Enlai’s family tradition exhibition held by our university and make a report.The translator was lucky to participate in the activity and made detailed records.This thesis uses the translation variation theory and specifically demonstrates the feasibility and guiding character of the translation theory in interpretation.In addition to analyzing the examples of the successful application of variation theory during this practice,this thesis also summarizes the problems in this interpretation practice,including terminology translation,non-smooth translation,repeated translation and missing translation,and uses the corresponding strategies under variation theory,namely “addition,deletion,edition and narration”,to provide corresponding solutions.Finally,this thesis sums up the meaning of guidance and limitations of the theory,looking forward to providing examples for the interpretation activities in relevant directions,and also help translators improve the quality of output in the future.
