A Practice Report Of E-C Consecutive Interpreting On The Paintings Appreciation Course

This practice report is based on the E-C consecutive interpreting on the paintings appreciation course in college of art and design in SNU.With the variation translation theory as a core,employing the variation translation strategies as the guiding principle,this thesis mainly studies three strategies of “expansion”,“deletion”,and “editing” to improve the using of variation translation strategies in consecutive interpreting,so as to convey information and satisfy the needs of interpreting,realize the value of the strategies.This thesis introduces the concrete means of strategies,including “expansion”,“deletion”,“editing”,“commentary”,“condensation”,“combination” and“reformation”.It is based on the degree of preservation of the integrity of the original work.Translation variation strategies are not made for arbitrary translation.Using the variation translation strategies to convey effective and accurate information needs to be under certain conditions and in accordance with the specific needs of specific people.At the same time,this thesis analyzes the difficulties and problem in the process of consecutive interpreting and combines the problem and strategies to explore the feasibility of strategy application and strategy transformation.Finally,the author summarizes the features and experience of the use of strategies in consecutive interpreting as well as the tentative idea of translating strategies in the future.
