| China and New Zealand have maintained good cooperative relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations,and with the signing of the New Free Trade Agreement,the two sides have closer economic and cultural exchanges,resulting in an increasing number of Chinese language learners in New Zealand and the emergence of various Chinese language teaching institutions.The Confucius Institute of Canterbury University in New Zealand has been outstanding in terms of its influence and the effectiveness of Chinese teaching.With the influence of the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University,the “Chinese fever” in South Island of New Zealand is growing year by year.This thesis intends to investigate the current situation of Chinese teaching at the Confucius Institute of University of Canterbury and mainly adopting four main research methods: interview research,questionnaire research,literature research and inductive research to intuitively present the current situation of Chinese teaching at The Confucius Institute of Canterbury University and analyze the problems that exist at the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University at this stage,explore the causes of the problems and propose solutions.It is of great implications for enriching research in this field and promoting the development of Chinese teaching in New Zealand.This thesis consists of six parts.The first part is the introduction,which mainly explains the background of the chosen topic,the purpose of the study,the significance of the study and the research method,and literature review The second part is the history of Chinese teaching in New Zealand and an overview of the development of Chinese teaching at the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University.The chapter focuses on the various periods in the development of Chinese teaching in New Zealand and the political,economic and cultural contexts in which the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University developed its Chinese teaching.The third part is the investigation of the current teaching situation of the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University.This chapter analyses the current situation of Chinese teaching in the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University from several aspects,including the curriculum,teaching materials,teachers,students,and cultural activities.The fourth chapter analyses the problems and causes of Chinese teaching in the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University.This chapter based on the investigation of the current situation of Chinese teaching at the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University,this chapter expounds the problems existing in Chinese teaching,and makes an in-depth analysis of the causes of the problems.The fifth part puts forward corresponding suggestions for the improvement of Chinese teaching in the Confucius Institute of Canterbury University.The sixth part is the concluding chapter,which summarizes the main elements and limitations of this research.Reference 60... |
