The original comes from the second chapter and ninth chapter in Culture of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The book was published by China Press of Traditional Chinese Medicine in August 2020,which discusses the social mechanism and internal law of the formation and development of traditional Chinese medicine by analyzing the cultural roots of traditional Chinese medicine. And it is an authoritative textbook of traditional Chinese medicine culture. So far,it has not been translated into English yet.The target audience of this report is for those foreign readers who are interested in traditional Chinese medicine culture or traditional Chinese culture.Besides, the translation of the book can provide the translator with important experience in improving the quality of translation and also in transmitting traditional Chinese culture. This report mainly consists of four parts: translation task description, translation process description, case analysis and summary. In the case analysis,it analyzes the translation problems and provides solutions based on the “Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation” framework of translation. In terms of the translation of the original, spreading the culture of traditional Chinese medicine is of great importance.Besides,it is important to be faithful to the original as far as possible,so that the target text has an equivalent meaning with the original.Furthermore, the translator tries to make the translation as concise as possible to conform to the conventions of the English language.Additionally, the amplification and omission are employed as translation methods. And the translator also analyzes the changes in his approaches to translation through a comparison between the initial translation and the revised translation.Accordingly, the translator discusses three requirements for Chinese-English translators: linguistic competence, background information, and a strong sense of responsibility.
