| Cyberpunk films are usually set in the near future or in a future society where technology is highly developed.By depicting the plight of human beings in the "high-tech,low-life" existence after the excessive development of technology in the future world, cyberpunk films reflect on the dark side of technology and its relationship with human beings.Based on the background setting, cyberpunk films have a natural connection with the spectacle and present a fantastical imagination of the future world through a variety of visual spectacle elements, which gradually becomes an important part of the stylistic expression and even narrative ideology of cyberpunk films.Over time, cyberpunk films have attracted the attention of scholars at home and abroad for their distinctive artistic style and spiritual core, and along with the development and innovation of computer technology and information technology,a series of cyberpunk-labeled films have been released, giving new meaning to the connotation of cyberpunk, and cyberpunk films have gradually moved from a secondary culture to a popular one, achieving impressive results at the box office.More domestic and foreign scholars have studied cyberpunk films from philosophical, cultural, and post-human perspectives, but cyberpunk films,as a genre with unique spectacle elements, have rarely been carefully identified and systematically analyzed in terms of the categories and aesthetic characteristics of the series of visual spectacles they create. With the aim of studying the visual representation and connotation of cyberpunk cinema and expecting it to be used in subsequent studies of such cinema, the author starts from the perspective of visual spectacle and provides a detailed overview and summary of the typical categories, category characteristics and expression strategies of visual spectacle in cyberpunk cinema. The study then explores the profound influence of visual spectacle on the characterization, visual presentation, and narrative style of cyberpunk films from an aesthetic perspective, concluding that cyberpunk films are heterogeneous, formalized, and unconventional in their aesthetic characteristics, and that cyberpunk films convey a profound understanding of subjectivity, technocentrism, and postmodernism in a stylized way.The study also reveals that although contemporary cyberpunk films are at the pinnacle of graphic presentation and have developed an extreme wealth of visual spectacle elements, there are still shortcomings such as programmatic and hybridized stylistic expressions and shallow and entertaining narrative ideologies. |
