Wang Yuan was a first-rate poet of collected sentence Ci poetry in the late Qing and early Republic of China, known for his collection of collected sentence Ci poetry Shechen Liancun Collection.Since the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, this collection has been published in three different versions and is the only edited and published collection of collected sentence Ci to date.In addition to his collection of collected sentence Ci,Wang Yuan also wrote original Ci poetry collections such as Ousi Collection,Yaotian Shenghe Collection and Jiyan Collection. At present, academic research on Wang Yuan’s Ci lacks a holistic perspective and is mainly focused on the study of the Shechen Liancun Collection. However, even in the study of the Shechen Liancun Collection, there is still a lack of in-depth research papers and monographs. This article conducts a comprehensive study of Wang Yuan’s Ci poetry based on his life and social background.Chapter One examines Wang Yuan’s life experience, social interactions, and a general overview of his Ci poetry,in the purpose of knowing better about Wang Yuan himself, his works, and the background of his works.Chapter Two analyzes the theme and content of Wang Yuan’s original Ci poetry.Wang Yuan’s original Ci can be mainly divided into five themes: love, object, social interaction, travel and sentiment. In addition to these five themes, there are also various themes such as seclusion, immortality, mourning, etc, reflecting the diversity and individuality of Wang Yuan’s original Ci poetry.Chapter Three explores the artistic style of Wang Yuan’s original Ci poetry.Wang Yuan’s original Ci mainly follows the graceful and restrained style, and reflects his pursuit of the Western-Zhejiang Ci Poetry School.Wang Yuan uses a rich variety of tonal patterns and rhyme schemes of Ci poetry, containing all forms of Ci,which reflects his active exploration of art forms.Wang Yuan uses a large number of allusions that are often natural and appropriate, reflecting his broad knowledge and high level of writing Ci.Chapter Four evaluates the achievements of Wang Yuan’s collected sentence Ci poetry. The Shechen Liancun Collection is a rigorously structured collection of collected sentence Ci.With a large scale of creation,a wide range of sentence collections, and a sound combination of collections and annotations,it has a certain pioneering significance in the field of collected sentence Ci.Moreover, most of the poems in the collection are rigorous in prosody, skillful in verbal parallelism, and cohesive in style, demonstrating a extremely high level of art.Chapter Five compares the similarities and differences between Wang Yuan’s collected sentence Ci poetry and original Ci poetry in terms of their themes and artistic styles, revealing the stylistic characteristics of collected sentence Ci.The literary phenomenon of Wang Yuan,as a first-rate poet of collected sentence Ci poetry and a second or third rate poet of original Ci,also reflects the aesthetic value and cultural heritage value of collected sentence Ci poetry.
