With the development of international Chinese teaching and the improvement of China’s comprehensive strength,more and more international students are attracted to study Chinese in China.In order to ensure the quality of education for undergraduate students studying in China,the Ministry of Education has carried out unified preparatory education for undergraduate students studying in China with Chinese government scholarship since 2009.All these urge us to pay more attention to the subject of Chinese learners,understand the real needs of learners,guide teaching by needs,and make clear what to teach in Chinese classroom and how to teach.The existing investigation and research mainly focus on international students,and there are relatively few studies on this group of preparatory students.The author’s school is a preparatory education institution for undergraduate students studying in China on Chinese government scholarship.This paper investigates the Chinese needs and satisfaction of preparatory students in our school by means of questionnaire survey,and carries out investigation and research from two aspects:Chinese target needs and Chinese teaching needs.The target needs research includes three parts: Chinese proficiency needs,academic needs and vocational needs.The research on Chinese teaching demand includes six parts: textbook demand,teaching content demand,classroom learning demand,curriculum setting demand,testing demand and teacher demand.The full text is divided into five chapters:The first chapter introduces the reasons for the topic and the significance of the research,makes an overall review of the previous studies on Chinese teaching,Chinese learning and Chinese learning needs of preparatory students,and introduces the research methods of this paper.The second chapter introduces the basic situation of the preparatory students from four aspects,namely,the continent,the country,the time of learning Chinese and the current Chinese level,and analyzes the Chinese target needs of the preparatory students.It is found that most of the preparatory students have a high demand for Chinese level and academic background,and generally attach great importance to oral ability.Most of the preparatory students hope to be engaged in medical related industries in the future,and have a strong desire to return to China for employment.The third chapter analyzes the needs of preparatory students for Chinese teaching,and the survey finds that most of the preparatory students have a high overall satisfaction with the preparatory Chinese teaching.The subjects pay more attention to the practicability and interest of teaching,and hope to get more opportunities to practice Chinese in class.The fourth chapter puts forward corresponding suggestions according to the previous research results.From the perspective of classroom teaching,it proposes differentiated teaching,improving the practicability of teaching,integrating cultural teaching into Chinese teaching,and conducting classroom tests in different categories.From the perspective of preparatory teachers,it proposes appropriate use of media language,stimulating students’ learning motivation and confidence,and paying attention to students’ psychological state.From the perspective of the management of preparatory students,the author puts forward some suggestions,such as making the teaching management system more humanized and facilitating the employment information of international students.The fifth chapter concludes this paper by summarizing the Chinese target needs and Chinese teaching needs of preparatory students obtained by analyzing the questionnaire survey results,showing the overall satisfaction and expectation of preparatory students,and reflecting on the shortcomings of this paper and the key points worth further study.
