A Practical Study On Chinese Self-made Teaching Book For Overseas Chinese Young Children

The author teaches at Jump Start Network Chinese School in Ireland,and knows that many Chinese parents want their children to learn Chinese from an early age.However,most Chinese teaching books for children in the market are not suitable for overseas Chinese young children,so the author tries to compile a Chinese teaching book for overseas Chinese children,and uses this teaching book to conduct online Chinese teaching for Irish Chinese children,to test the applicability of the self-compiled teaching book.We found that the teaching book is generally suitable for Chinese young children,but there are some unsuitable problems in children’s songs,picture books and homework,and then we revised these problems.According to the author’s writing and practical attempts,the author puts forward some suggestions for the compilation of Chinese teaching books for overseas Chinese children,hoping to provide ideas and references for the compilation of Chinese teaching books for overseas Chinese children and promote the development of Chinese teaching for overseas Chinese children.The first chapter of this paper analyzes five books for children’s Chinese teaching with certain recognition,draws on their advantages,and discusses the contents which are not suitable for young Chinese children.The second chapter analyzes the basic situation and compiling principles of the self-compiled teaching book,introduces the content setting and presentation form of the teaching book in detail,and explains the goal and expected effect of the teaching book.The third chapter analyzes the practice of applying self-compiled teaching books to Chinese class of Chinese children in preschool class of Spark Network Chinese School in Ireland.Through the evaluation of teaching material evaluation form,the teachers’ reflection,the students’ classroom status,the completion of homework after class,and the questionnaire survey results of parents,it is concluded that the self-made teaching book has the advantages of content setting in line with small class teaching in interest classes,topic selection in line with the daily life of Chinese young children,difficulty in phonetic knowledge and communication training for Chinese young children,and appropriate form of classroom practice content,while some children’s songs and picture books are difficult to understand and homework after class is difficult.The fourth chapter,based on the teaching results of Irish Chinese young children and the questionnaire survey of parents,we adjusted the nursery rhymes,picture books and homework in the teaching book.According to the writing experience and teaching practice,the author puts forward some suggestions for the academic community to compile Chinese teaching books for young Chinese children,such as introducing genre forms that children are interested in,fully considering the actual Chinese level of young Chinese children in the compilation of knowledge points,properly integrating Chinese learning with the daily life of young Chinese children,and paying attention to different curriculum characteristics in style arrangement.The conclusion summarizes the conclusions,innovations and shortcomings of this paper.
