The Contemporary Study Of The Illustrated Book Of "The Story Of The Western Chamber" And The Inspiration Of Contemporary Illustration Design

The full name of "The Story of the Western Chamber" is "The Story of Cui Yingying Waiting for the Moon in the Western Chamber".It originated from the "Biography of Yingying" written by Yuan Zhen of the Tang Dynasty and was later adapted by Wang Shifu of the Yuan Dynasty to become a well-known classic drama.This work proposes the idea of ’having a lover is always a family member’ from the positive perspective.In the social environment of that time,which was characterized by a strong anti feudal ethics and anti arranged marriage tradition,it had a strong social nature.In terms of artistic expression,the work has a wide range of engraved versions,and the quality of the publication is exquisite.The research on it by literati throughout history has been enduring.From a historical perspective,scholars and scholars have many insights into the ideological aspects of it,but there is very little research on its illustrated versions.This article starts from this perspective and studies the illustration style and era characteristics of the illustrated books,as well as their inspiration and reference significance for modern art creation.This paper conducts a study on the evolution process,style analysis,and inspiration for modern illustration of the illustrated versions of the Western Chamber through the ages.The paper is divided into seven chapters,focusing on the characteristics and development trends of illustrations from the Ming Dynasty,Qing Dynasty,modern times,and contemporary times.It also provides a specific and detailed analysis of the changes in the style of illustrations in "Records of the Western Chamber",explores the main factors that cause the changes,and explores the inspiration for illustrations in classical masterpieces.Combined with my graduation project,I add innovative points,and analyze and deepen them.The main research content of this article is as follows: 1.A brief overview of the research background of the illustrated book of "The Story of the West Chamber",discussing the meaning of "The Story of the West Chamber" and the illustrated book,sorting out and displaying the basic situation of the existing illustrated book of "The Story of the West Chamber",providing a theoretical basis for subsequent research in this article;2.Based on the chronological order,this paper explores the temporal evolution of the style of the illustrated version of "Records of the Western Chamber",and summarizes and draws the following conclusions: the illustration style of the Ming Dynasty mainly followed the traditional line drawing style;The Qing Dynasty illustrated book inherits and further inherits the characteristics of the Ming Dynasty illustrated book;The illustrations of modern times are in line with the trend of the times,reflecting on the past and connecting with the present,elevating the illustrations of the Western Chamber to a new level;3.Introduce and analyze contemporary illustrations of "The Story of the West Chamber",starting from the background and culture,describe the style characteristics of contemporary "The Story of the West Chamber",and introduce the popular Chinese style illustrations.Based on contemporary illustration works,prospect one’s own design.4.Summarize the characteristics and changes in the illustration style of "The Story of the West Chamber" in different eras,analyze the advantages and disadvantages of illustrations in each era,and clarify the main factors that cause this change.Summarize the entire text,describe the impact of the evolution of illustrations in "The Story of the West Chamber" on contemporary classical illustrations,and explore the feasibility of integrating them with contemporary classical illustrations.Also,refer to the practical value of anthropomorphic illustrations,Apply it to personal graduation creations.In summary,this article takes chronological order as the starting point to analyze the characteristics and differences of the illustrations in "The Records of the West Chamber" from different dynasties,study the artistic forms of the illustrations in "The Records of the West Chamber",and how modern illustrations should be borrowed,so that people can have a deeper understanding of the illustrations in "The Records of the West Chamber" and highlight their value.
