| Redundant negation refers to the linguistic phenomenon that formally contains negative components but does not express negation.Because of its complex constitutive conditions and difficulty in learning,to understand the impact on Chinese teaching, the article investigates born Chinese speakers, international students, and Chinese textbooks by using data statistics, questionnaires, literature research methods, using literature, questionnaires, and corpus as investigation tools.First, the article investigates the corpus of native speakers and finds that redundant negation exists in a variety of fields such as journals, literature, conversation, and the Internet. The wide distribution of redundant negation indicates that international students are more or less exposed to related linguistic phenomena when learning Chinese and may appear in their Chinese communication.Based on this, the article compiles the corpus and questionnaires of international students and finds that international students make mistakes in learning and using redundant negation. For example,in terms of meaning, students only see the conceptual meaning but ignore the color meaning;in terms of grammatical features, students fail to grasp the conditions of redundant negation;in terms of language usage, students fail to understand the unique emotional color and expression effect of the negation. Thus,it can be seen that redundant negation as knowledge learning is difficult for international students.Second, after compiling the relevant literature,it was found that the factor of a native speaker’s sense of language has not been emphasized in previous studies. Therefore, the article investigated native speakers’sense of language using a questionnaire and learned that people have different preferences in choosing different redundant negations, among which"好(不)……","(没)……以前","差点儿(没)……","果(不)然"and"难免(不)……"the five groups of affirmatives have a higher percentage of choice, while"不巧","小心(别)……","(不)一会儿",and"看我(不)……"are the four groups of negatives. Thus,it is recommended to include the selection preferences of native speakers as reference criteria when teaching or developing teaching materials. In addition,Chinese textbooks have a direct impact on students’ learning.Combined with the survey of Chinese textbooks,we found that most of them need to be improved.Among the eight textbooks surveyed, half of them did not cover the knowledge of redundant negation, and the other half also had problems such as fewer kinds of categories including incomplete textbook notes, and unreasonable difficulty of exercises. To sum up,since redundant negation exists in Chinese communication and it is difficult for international students, then it is necessary to study it.Given the above problems, the article makes three suggestions in terms of teaching:(1)it should be taught according to the student’s ability;(2)it should be analyzed group by the group;(3)it should be fully practiced.Four suggestions are made in terms of teaching materials:(1)the focus of different levels should exist reasonably designed;(2)the types of textbooks included should be enriched;(3)the annotation of textbook knowledge should be improved;(4)the scientific nature of exercises should be emphasized. It is hoped that the research and inquiry will help international students to understand and grasp more comprehensively the redundant negation, help Chinese teachers to enhance their teaching efficiency, and help Chinese textbooks to improve the relevant knowledge. |
