Research On The Language And Culture Of Chinese Water Place Names

Place names can be found everywhere,and it is an important part of our daily life.my country has a vast territory,numerous ethnic groups and complex national conditions.Therefore,the number of place names is also extremely large.However,seemingly simple and ordinary place names contain rich linguistic knowledge,geographic information,etc.,and are worthy of in-depth exploration to understand their connotations.At the same time,place names are also a cultural boom in recent years.With the end of the second national place name census and the country’s vigorous popularization of place name culture,place names have gradually entered the field of interest of people.My country has diverse topography and vast waters.There are countless place names related to "water",but most people don’t know much about it.This article takes some water-related geographical nouns in Chinese as the starting point,such as the lake,lake,swamp,and abyss next to "water";The nouns are swaying,pei,calisthenics,and mouth.Combined with relevant literature and network data resources,this paper analyzes the cases of these water place names from the two dimensions of internal linguistics and sociolinguistics,so as to explore the profound connotation behind water place names,and achieve the effect of seeing the whole from the part.Summarize the distribution law of water place names in my country,popularize the knowledge of water place names and promote the development of place name culture to a certain extent.The first chapter,as an introduction,firstly expounds the reason for choosing the topic of this paper,and sorts out the literature and works related to this paper.Secondly,it explains the research value of this paper to study the place names related to "water" in Chinese.Finally,the research materials and research methods are described.The second chapter is about the significance of the study of water place names,which specifically analyzes the meaning of the study of water place names and its historical,cultural and economic significance from the perspective of sociolinguistics.The third chapter is the characteristics of water place names,which generally analyzes the characteristics of water place names and the distribution of water place names.The fourth chapter is the research on the classification of water place nouns.This chapter divides water place nouns into three categories: one is related to "water",one is related to "earth",and the other is other nouns related to water.From the perspective of internal linguistics,we study the shape,sound and meaning of these water place nouns,and analyze their diachronic development of word meaning;from the perspective of sociolinguistics,we analyze their synchronic regional distribution.Studies have shown that in the differentiation of Chinese water place names from east to west,it can be bounded by the 400 mm isoprecipitation line or the population geographic dividing line,that is,the Heihe-Tengchong line,showing the distribution law of more east and less west;-The Huaihe River is bounded by the line,showing the distribution law of more in the south and less in the north.This also provides a certain theoretical basis for the census and further research of water place names,and lays a certain foundation for the popularization of water place names knowledge.
