With the handing down of spirit of The Silk and Road Initiative,mutual trust,cooperation and cultural interconnection have been the indispensable part in promoting economic growth.This is a report on the application of Daniel Gile’s The Effort Model Theory to C-E simultaneous interpretation based on the CCTV documentary Silk Road Economic Belt.Silk Road Economic Belt is a representative historical and cultural documentary.The author chose the fourth episode Currency and the fifth episode Business Principles as the two targets of this simulated practice.The whole interpretation process is presented from pre-interpretation preparation to after-interpretation analysis.Besides,the author also analyzed the problems and phenomena appeared in this practice from the three perspectives of The Effort Model Theory and summarized the the ways and techniques in response to heavy cognitive burden in simultaneous interpretation,namely,anticipation,omission and conversion.In the last part,the author reviewed this practice and confirmed the effectiveness of The Effort Model Theory in coping with heavy cognitive burden and its guiding significance,reflecting on the limitations and the enlightenment it brought.Hopefully,the techniques and ways proposed in this practice can offer experience for others to deal with similar source materials.
