Areport On Engineering Contract Translation Based On Functional Equivalence Theory

With the development of economic globalization,economic and trade exchanges between countries are becoming more and more frequent.As an indispensable part of trade transactions,the efficiency and level of English translation of the contract plays a vital role in the whole trade process.Engineering contract translation generally appears in the Sino-foreign enterprise cooperation project.In order to enable the Chinese and foreign parties to carry out the project smoothly,engineering contracts and contracting contracts are required to be translated precisely.The engineering contract text has the characteristics of professionalism,standardization and rigor.This paper lists the key and difficult points in the process of translation project.Under the guidance of Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory,based on the characteristics and the translation principles of engineering contracts,this paper explores the Chinese-English translation of vocabulary,syntax and discourse of engineering contract.In this paper,the case study method is adopted to study specific translation problems.Through the analysis of various problems encountered in the translation practice,the author summarized some engineering contract translation methods to make the translation accurate and concise,natural and fluent,and finally achieve the communicative purpose of engineering contract translation,so as to promote the normal flow of trade between countries.
