In International Chinese language teaching,we often find a problem like this: Many Chinese learners can master certain lexical and grammatical knowledge,create some relatively simple sentences.However,there will still be some problems such as scattered discourse,incomprehensible logic,and weak cohesion.Discourse teaching is an important part of International Chinese teaching.If learners want to use the target language proficiently for communication,they must pay attention to the learning and use of discourse cohesion.This paper takes Thai students as the research object,and takes the discourse cohesion theory and related teaching theory as the basis.Besides,the use of learners’ grammatical cohesive methods is examined,different types of errors are summarized,the causes of errors are analyzed and targeted teaching suggestions are put forward.This paper is divided into six parts.The first part mainly discusses the reasons for the selection of topics,the method and significance of research,and so on.The second part is about theoretical foundation,which includes discourse cohesion and its related teaching theory.In the third part,150 Thai students’ compositions were selected from the HSK corpus and analyzed.The cohesive errors of Thai students in Chinese grammar are mainly manifested in three aspects: reference,ellipsis and conjunction.Specifically,the referential aspect mainly includes personal referential errors and indicative referential errors;Ellipsis mainly includes noun ellipsis,verb ellipsis,and clause ellipsis;The conjunction bias mainly includes six types:causal,transitional,parallel,conditional,hypothetical,and progressive conjunction.Specific examples are explained and grammatical cohesive errors distribution and characteristics are summarized.The fourth part is a questionnaire survey on the use of grammatical cohesion among Thai students and error causes are analyzed from four aspects: language,teachers,textbooks,and students.In the fifth part,based on the above analysis,targeted teaching strategies such as developing national textbooks,optimizing the layout of textbooks,emphasizing error feedback by teachers,and enriching cohesive practice methods are proposed.Besides,teaching design of grammatical cohesive devices for Thai students is conducted.The final part is the conclusion,which summarizes the main points and shortcomings of this article.
