| In the context of post-humanism,with the development of modern civilization and science and technology, especially the development and frequent application of life science and biotechnology, there are many disputes and discussions, such as abortion, fetal morality, animal rights and so on.Facing these bioethics problems and new topics that need to be solved urgently, traditional bioethics is often at a loss, and more scholars have begun to focus on the international development in this field. Therefore, the translation of relevant academic works is particularly important.Based on the first chapter of the academic work,Beating Hearts: Abortion and Animal Rights in the field of bioethics, this report attempts to explore the methods and techniques to solve the difficulties in the translation of the academic text.Through the analysis of the characteristics of the text,as an informative text,it involves many terms about animal ethics, frequently uses nominalization structure, and contains some common words with special meanings in the context of bioethics. In addition, the syntactic structure of the text is rigorous, and long difficult sentences and passive voice are widely used to explain complex arguments. Therefore, the difficulties in the translation mainly focus on the lexical and syntactic levels. This report comprehensively uses eight translation methods and techniques to explore and solve specific problems from the two levels, and to convey concepts and information equivalent to the original text in a concise and clear language.Under the guidance of text typology theory, this report aims to provide some reference for the exploration of localized bioethics in line with China’s national conditions through the translation of the academic work related to bioethics. It is also hoped that this report can provide a reference for the combination of text type theory and academic text translation. |
