Career decision-making difficulties are a common problem faced by college students. In the process of college students’ career choice, career decision-making difficulties can have many impacts on their career choices, leading to individuals not being able to successfully obtain employment,or even delaying employment.Previous research results have shown that one of the main factors causing career decision-making difficulties for college students is individual psychological characteristics, such as cognition, emotion, personality, and so on.According to social cognitive career theory, career values,as relatively stable psychological characteristics, can affect individual career decision-making behavior.According to career development theory, college is a stage where individuals initially explore their career.Due to unreasonable career values, they hesitate to make career decisions, and even have difficulty making career decisions. Therefore, exploring the relationship between career values and career decision-making difficulties is of great significance for guiding college students’ career decision-making.This study is divided into two studies. In the first study,a questionnaire survey was used, and career decision-making self-efficacy was introduced as a mediator variable, while social support was used as a moderator variable to verify the moderated mediator model. In study 1,810 college students were selected for a questionnaire survey, and 810 questionnaires were collected, including 713 valid questionnaires.Investigation of the relationship between career values and career decision difficulties.Research results:(1)Overall,career values have a significant positive effect on career decision-making difficulties.(2)Self-efficacy of occupational decision-making lies partly between career values(health factors)and difficulties in occupational decision-making,while self-efficacy in occupational decision-making does not mediate between career values(reputation factors, development factors)and career decision-making difficulties.(3)Social support has a significant moderating effect.Social support regulates the first half of the intermediary model, namely, low level social support.Career values can positively predict their career decision-making self-efficacy,thereby predicting their career decision-making difficulties;High level of social support has no significant regulatory effect. On the basis of study one, study two used group counseling to select 28 college students and divided them into a control group and an experimental group to explore the changes of self-efficacy and career decision-making difficulties of the experimental group after eight group counseling.By comparing the experimental group with the control group, the study found that:(1)The design of the group counselling programme is meaningful and effective.(2)Group interventions can effectively improve the self-efficacy of students’ career choices.(3)Group interventions on the self-efficacy of career decisions can reduce the difficulty of career decisions for students. The results of this study show that career values through career decision self-efficacy have a positive predictive effect on career decision difficulties and that the relationship between career values and career decision self-efficacy is regulated by social support. On this basis, group counseling can effectively improve the self-efficacy of individual career decisions by adjusting the self-efficacy of career decisions and reduce the degree of difficulty of individual career decisions.Research has a leading role in the introduction of various educational and counselling methods for career guidance for students. The path relationship in research has a leading role in the practice of intervention. In addition, research on group counselling intervention also shows that the intervention for the self-efficacy of students’ career decisions is effective. In the intervention of career decision difficulties of students, attention should be paid to the application of self-efficacy of career decision and group psychological counseling.
