An E-C Translation Practice Report On Cloud Computing For Dummies Guided By Eugene Nida’s Functional Equivalence Theory

This report introduces a translation project of Cloud Computing for Dummies.Examples in the translation material are analyzed at three levels-vocabulary,syntax,and discourse equivalence-to explore the guiding role of Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory in translation research in the field of cloud computing.The report reviews translation research related to cloud computing.The selection of examples in vocabulary,syntax,and discourse equivalence is used to discuss specialized terms and vocabulary in specific contexts,passive voice and complex sentences,and translation of discourse coherence and cohesion,based on Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory.Under the guidance of Eugene Nida’s theory of functional equivalence,the application of cloud computing-related texts has been enriched and developed.In translation practice,the application(including lexical equivalence translation,syntactic equivalence translation,and textual equivalence translation)of functional equivalence theory to cloud computing text translation is summarized,and suggestions for improvement and current deficiencies in the translation of cloud computing texts are provided.Through the selection of typical cases in Cloud Computing for Dummies,this report analyzes the problems encountered in the translation process and the corresponding solutions.It clarifies the guiding role of functional equivalence theory in the translation of cloud computing texts.This report is intended to provide reference and problem-solving ideas for ICT text translation practices,including cloud computing.
