| “Qi” is an important concept in ancient philosophy and literature. It involves the relationship between human and nature, human and society, human and culture. It is also one of the important criteria for evaluating literary works in traditional Chinese literary criticism. From Mencius to Cao Pi,and then to later literati, they all expounded and developed the theory of “literary Qi”,forming a huge and complex theoretical system. After entering the 20 th century, with the changes of social environment and the decline of classical literary criticism,“literary Qi” gradually changed from a literary criticism discourse to an interpretive object, and showed different interpretive characteristics in different stages of the 20 th century.Based on this, this paper takes the20 th century as a time node and analyzes the research status and interpretive modes of“literary Qi” in different historical periods. The paper is divided into three parts: The first part discusses the dual identity of “literary Qi” as a traditional criticism discourse and a literary theory interpretation object in the early 20 th century,as well as its cross-interpretation of Qi materialism,Qi cultivation theory and literary Qi theory, chronological historical interpretation theory and East-West comparative interpretation model; The second part examines the analysis and research of “literary Qi” under various “isms” influences in the mid-20 th century,as well as how it revised and improved the traditional theory “byinterpreting classics by classics”,and explored the connection and conflict between materialism, realism and “literary Qi”;The third part sorts out the research achievements of “literary Qi” in the new era context in the late20 th century,as well as how it updated and innovated the traditional theory by using ancient and modern discourse transformation, and analyzed the aesthetic deduction method constructed by nationalism plus style theory. The paper aims to show the diversity and complexity of ancient Chinese literary criticism with unique vitality in modern transformation through reviewing and reflecting on 20th-century research on“literary Qi”,and provide reference for further in-depth research in related fields. |
