This practice report is based on the simulated simultaneous interpreting of the interview "Cultivating Your Purpose".Based on the personal experiences of different individuals,the interview is intended to raise the situations people encounter in real life,and to discuss common problems among them.The purpose is to share with the audience how to effectively cultivate purpose in the daily life which is full of uncertainty.In the way of case study,this report is intended to summarize the difficulties and coping strategies of different source language rhythms in simultaneous interpreting.The source language rhythms in the interview can be divided into natural rhythms and meaning rhythms.Natural rhythms are divided into pauses and speed,while meaning rhythms are divided into repetition and parallel structures.According to the characteristics of the source language’s rhythms,the interpreter adopts the strategies of syntactic linearity and prediction in simultaneous interpreting.The interpreter also uses the methods of addition,omission,conversion,and induction to accurately transmit the source language information and maximize the information received by the audience.This report is intended to analyze the characteristics of different source language rhythms and summarize their coping strategies and methods in simultaneous interpreting,hoping to inspire other interpreters and provide references for online interpreting.
