Marx’s Social Space Theory And Its Contemporary Enlightenment

For human beings,space is not only the real place of life,but also provides an important field for the practice of human society.While space has natural qualities,it also carries many social implications.Marx’s theory of space was formed on the basis of a critical inheritance of the spatial ideas of scholars such as Democritus,Kant,and Hegel.At the same time,Marx’s space theory has a practical and social nature that surpasses other space theories,and is called social space theory.For a considerable period of time,Marx’s theory of social space has not received attention.However,with the continuous advancement of globalization and urbanization,various spatial issues emerge in endlessly.At this time,Marx’s social spatial theory began to enter people’s visionDeepening the study of Marx’s social space theory is not only a theoretical need to promote the modernization of Marxism and the development of human space theory,but also a practical need to explore ways to solve the spatial problems faced by contemporary society.With Marx’s social spatial theory and its enlightenment to the development of social space in China,this paper analyzes the historical background,theoretical origin and development stage of Marx’s social spatial theory.This paper explains the basic content of Marx’s theory of social space,discusses Marx’s critique of capital space and the construction of ideal social space.It also analyzes the epoch-making theoretical contributions of Marx’s theory of social space.Finally,combined with the actual situation in China,the importance of Marx’s social space theory in guiding practice is demonstrated.The article is mainly divided into five parts:The first part is an introduction,which summarizes the background of the topic selection,the significance of the research and the current research status at home and abroad.The second part mainly discusses the formation of Marx’s theory of social space.The first is to sort out the historical background of the formation of Marx’s social space theory and trace the origin of his space theory.Then,from Marx’s doctoral dissertation,"German Ideology","The Communist Manifesto" and "Capital",we can see how the development of Marx’s spatial theory gradually moved from germination and formation to maturity.The third part mainly discusses the basic content of Marx’s theory of social space.First,it introduces Marx’s definition of social space and its related concepts,and analyzes the characteristics of Marx’s theory of social space.Secondly,it discusses Marx’s critique of capitalist social space,which mainly includes the confrontation between time and space and natural and social forces caused by product production in capitalist space,the squeeze of workers’ production and living space under the background of the spatial division of capitalist society,the criticism of false communities and their consciousness,and the ecological imbalance and global space deprivation caused by capitalist space production.In view of the above criticism,Marx’s construction of an ideal harmonious social space is further sorted out.The fourth part discusses the theoretical value of Marx’s social space theory,which has very rich theoretical value,on the one hand,inherits and absorbs the views of predecessors,combined with practice and capital logic to greatly promote the development of human space theory.On the other hand,Marx’s social space theory,as a solid theoretical foundation,inspired later scholars to enrich and develop contemporary space theory.The fifth part is "The Enlightenment of Marx’s Social Space Theory to China’s Space Construction",Marx’s social space theory has a high value for the guidance of human practice,which on the one hand helps China to cope with contemporary global space production,on the other hand,it also helps to guide contemporary China’s urban space production,maintain the space of people’s daily life and solve the spatial contradiction of urban and rural dual social structure.The innovation of the article lies in: First,it comprehensively summarizes the basic content of Marx’s social space theory based on practice and sociality.Second,the epoch-making significance of Marx’s social space theory is explained from the dimension of the development of human space theory.Third,in connection with the current situation of space construction in China,it reveals the important guiding significance of Marx’s social space theory for building a beautiful space suitable for human settlements in China.
