| Explicitation is one of the essential strategies in interpretation. It can improve interpretation quality effectively. The differences between the Chinese and English languages and cultural backgrounds mean that the source language often contains a lot of hidden information and content. Therefore, the interpreter needs to apply explicitation strategy, and make appropriate adjustments in the target language to manifest the implicit information,so as to make the target language easier to understand for the target language audience and achieve the purpose of communication. In this mock conference, many cases of the author’s interpretation lack explicitation, causing problems like incoherent structure, semantic ambiguity, lack of communicative effects and others. This thesis analyzes and classifies the lack of explicitation from dimensions of language, culture and communication by referring to the three-dimensional classification method of Eco-translatology.According to the problems in each dimension, the author summarizes three causes, including inappropriate effort allocation, lack of extra-linguistic knowledge and communicative awareness. In view of the problems and causes, together with the author’s own learning and practical experience, the author puts forward four improvement methods, including adequate preparation, active analysis, explicitation in notes, and improving the awareness of communication. These methods will enhance interpreters’ ability of explicitation and improve interpretation quality. |
