A Report On The Simulated Interpreting Of The EPA Budget Request Conference For Fiscal Year 2023

Nowadays,a variety of environmental pollution problems are becoming more and more severe and prominent.Environmental protection has long been a hot topic around the world,and has become a concern for all walks of life at home and abroad.The U.S.Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)is an independent administrative agency of the U.S.federal government responsible for protecting the natural environment and safeguarding human health from environmental hazards.On April29,2022,the U.S.House of Representatives Committee on Appropriations held an online meeting on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Request to discuss the agency’s anticipated plans and funding allocations for 2023.This simulation interpretation practice report is based on the U.S.Environmental Protection Agency Budget Request Meeting for Fiscal Year 2023.Guided by the theory of interpretation and supported by the principle of syntactic linearity,it analyzes the process and problems of this practice,and explores the applicable translation methods to solve the problems and improve the translation efficiency and effect.This paper puts forward five translation methods: addition,omission,antithesis,free translation and sentence structure recombination.At the same time,it summarizes the shortcomings and advantages of the practice and puts forward some directions that need further efforts in the future.It also provides a reference for the practice of interpreting environmental protection texts.
