In recent years, environmental problem has become increasingly prominent and a serious global challenge to all of us. China is the largest developing country in the world and should be responsible for the global environmental protection. Yet it should also cooperate with other countries in environmental protection programs. Accordingly, the press conference of the Third Session of the Twelfth National People's Congress held by Mr. Chen Jining, China's Minister of Environmental Protection on March 7th, 2015 is of great significance. During the press conference, Mr. Chen Jining answered many environmental questions such as smog treatment, soil contamination and trans-boundary pollution problem raised by journalists from home and abroad. The translation and interpretation of the press conference is of important practical significance for strengthening people's environmental protection awareness and promoting cooperation on environmental protection among countries. The report is based on the author's Chinese to English simulated consecutive interpreting practice of the press conference held by Mr.Chen Jining, China's Minister of Environmental Protection in 2015. Based on the difficulties and problems she encountered in the interpreting process and guided by The Interpretative Theory of Paris School, the author mainly discussed the application of deverbalization, which is the core of The Interpretative Theory. In the case analysis of this report, the author focused on the processing of figures of speech, four-character idioms, incomplete sentences and redundant information and discussed how to fully deliver the real sense of the source text and achieve ideal communicative effect in interpreting. Difficulties and problems discussed in this report were shared by student interpreters in their interpreting practices. Accordingly, it is expected that the report would provide student interpreters and researchers in press conference interpreting with some useful references.
