With the development of the times,the language environment for overseas Chinese teenagers to learn Chinese is gradually localized or westernized,which makes the Chinese language teaching has an obvious trend of changing from the first language teaching to the second language teaching and has regional characteristics.Language teaching and culture teaching are inseparable,and this change will inevitably have a corresponding impact on the compilation of cultural content of textbooks.This paper takes Chinese language and Charming Chinese,which are widely used in Indonesia,as the research object,and The List of Cultural Items of International Chinese Classification as the classification basis to classify and make statistics on cultural items in textbooks.Next,the paper compares and analyzes the types and quantity distribution,the recurrence of cultural items,the similarities and differences and advantages and disadvantages of presentation of cultural items.Through a questionnaire survey of Indonesian students who have used the textbooks,the results show that there are some similarities and differences between Indonesian students’ expectations on the selection and arrangement of cultural items in Chinese textbooks and the actual situation of the two sets of textbooks.Further analysis shows that the repetition and presentation mode of cultural items of the two sets of textbooks are in line with students’ expectations.However,the categories of cultural items in the two sets of textbooks differ greatly from students’ interests,mainly reflected in the cultural items in daily life and customs and communicative activities that students are most interested in.In addition,the cultural items of the two sets of textbooks are mainly reproduced in different classes(different volumes),and the long distance between them is not conducive to students’ timely consolidation and review of cultural knowledge.The illustrations with the function of presenting cultural items in textbooks have some problems such as single color and incomplete presentation,which also do not meet the expectations of students.Based on the research and analysis results,this paper summarizes the merits of the selection and compilation of cultural items in the two sets of textbooks,and puts forward the following suggestions on the selection and arrangement of cultural items in the Chinese textbooks based on the opinions of Indonesian students on the cultural items in the Chinese textbooks: First,plan the number of cultural items to stimulate students’ interest in learning;Second,emphasize the reasonable repetition of cultural items to enhance the effect of consolidation and review;Third,improve the presentation of cultural projects to create a dynamic three-dimensional classroom. |
