Textbooks are the key to the teaching.The cultural part of textbooks,when arranged in a systematic means,it will inspire students’ interests in learning Chinese.Also it will promote teaching to a high level.There are some benefits in gaining sight into the arrangement of the cultural part in textbooks as follows.First,it will provide a better understanding of the cultural section in books.Second,it will also stimulate learners’ interests in grasping Chinese.Ultimately,it will ameliorate the situation of composing available textbooks,which will enhance the comprehension of existing teaching theories.The writer,based on intermediate reading and writing textbooks “Developing Chinese ”and “Mastering Chinese ”,conducted this dissertation to compare them.The former textbook is used wide-spread in teaching of Chinese as a second language,while the latter book,serving as the new teaching textbook,also proffers various features.Consequently,the author,resting on comparative approach and induction,exhaustively contrasts the cultural portion of the above mentioned books.The article will use four chapters to examine and analyze two kinds of intermediate reading and writing textbook cultural items.The introduction is developed from five aspects: the reason for the topic,the research object,the research method,the research status,and the research significance.The first chapter examines the differences in the arrangement of cultural items and cultural topics of the two textbooks.In the third chapter,we consider that the arrangement of actual textbook cultural items is not as many as possible,and the willingness of learners to cultural items is also an important consideration in the arrangement.Therefore,a questionnaire is designed for the cultural item needs of textbook users and the results of the questionnaire are analyzed.The fourth chapter proposes optimization suggestions for the selection and compilation of textbook cultural items.Make a summary of the deficiencies of the research in this article,and make relevant reflections on later improvements.It is hoped that this article can provide some useful thinking and enlightenment for the arrangement of cultural items for teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
