This article takes the modeling of the double-headed snake-body figurines as the starting point.Based on materials such as stone relief images, murals, tomb space, and ancient books and documents, the multiple spatial characteristics of the double-headed snake-body figurines are analyzed from three aspects: origin and features, deformation and space, concept and expression. Therefore, starting with the three academic names, three modeling features, and three sources of images of the figurines, the article explains that the double-headed snakebody figurines originated from the image of Yinghuo, with the earth axis as the main name. They have the meaning of magic weapon and depend on space to some extent. Then, using the image changes of the double-headed snake-body figurines in historical time and space, the twisting of its own shape, and its orientation in the tomb as the argument logic, the article describes the different spatial characteristics for its regular pattern of evolution, expression of modeling, and presentation in tomb. Finally, through the combination of the double-headed snake-body figurines of the Song Dynasty and the murals of Ascension to Immortals in the Liao Dynasty frescoed tombs at Xuanhua,it is demonstrated that the figurines became a material symbol of the transition process of the tomb owner’s ascension to immortality in the Song Dynasty. In addition, the research on the artistic techniques of the double-headed snake-body figurines describes the integration of time and space from three aspects: the modeling of the figurines, the space of the tomb, and the blend of culture.
