Food,as a fundamental necessity for human beings,occupies a pivotal position in the daily lives of Chinese people.With social and economic development,food processing technology in China has undergone significant advancements.In order to further promote the growth of the Chinese food industry,it is imperative to facilitate technical exchanges with foreign countries through the translation of technical materials related to food processing.This translation practice report selects chapter ten of Rapeseed Oil Processing Technology as the translation material.Chapter ten is divided into two parts: the purpose and method of the production of fragrant rapeseed oil and the safe production technology of fragrant rapeseed oil.This report applies Skopos theory to guide translation practice and analyzes it from lexical,syntactic,and textual levels.At the lexical level,literal translation,variation translation and transformation of part of speech for translation are made for terms and high-frequency verbs.At the syntactic level,as for the translation of long sentences and non-subject sentences,the following strategies are adopted;dividing,adding subjects and changing of voice.Regarding discourse,it emphasizes the cohesion of the text and uses connectives to make the invisible relationship in Chinese clear.This report is structured into five chapters.Chapter one briefly provides a concise overview of the source text,the significance of the translation,and the overall framework of the paper.The implementation of translation tasks is covered in Chapter two,along with pre-translation preparation,methods for ensuring the quality of the translation,post-translation review,and translation-related reflection.Chapter three introduces the Skopos theory and its applicability to the translation practice.Skopos theory is used as the theoretical framework.Appropriate translation rules are chosen in accordance with the characteristics of the text,and the readability and professionalism of the translation are guaranteed.The fourth chapter is case analysis,which explores the specific application of Skopos theory in the translation with examples.Under the guidance of translation theory,the focus and difficulties in the translation materials are analyzed by different translation rules.Chapter five summarizes the translation practice and describes the findings and deficiencies in the translation practice report.
