A Report On The E-C Translation Of Advanced Computational Intelligence In Healthcare Paradigm 6:Virtual Reality In Psychotherapy,Rehabilitation And Assessment(Excerpts)

This translation practice report is based on the English-Chinese translation of the chosen parts of the manuscript entitled Advanced Computational Intelligence Paradigm in Healthcare 6: Virtual Reality in Psychotherapy,Rehabilitation and Assessment(excerpts).The source text describes the current state of research on the application of virtual reality to the treatment of psychological disorders and is of great value.The translation is believed to provide reference for domestic researchers in the field of psychology.As a piece of scientific writing,the source text is composed of three major parts.The author selects chapters 1-5 as the translation material which totals about 20,000 words,and writes the translation practice report under the guidance of her supervisor.Through the analysis of the source text,the author finds that the language in the source text is highly specialized,and the source text is informative.Based on the theoretical framework of “Comprehension,Expression and Adaption”(CEA)proposed by Li Changshuan,a famous scholar in China,the author analyzes a large number of examples in the translation process,and solves problems encountered based on three aspects.In the perspective of comprehension,the author selects words as the units of comprehension to understand linguistic knowledge and analyze the source text context;in the perspective of expression,the author focuses on the content and form: avoiding Europeanized Chinese,and ensuring coherence and matching;in the perspective of adaption,the author elaborates on the adaptions of culturally-loaded idioms,the amplification and omission of information,sentence restructuring,and the limitations of adaption.Upon the completion of the translation practice report,the author has further mastered the theoretical framework of “Comprehension,Expression and Adaption”.In response to these problems encountered in the translation process,the author proposes suggestions for improvement.As to the conclusion part,the author emphasizes the importance of translator’s search quotient in the translation process.For translators in the era of big data,the competence to obtain effective information through search is the key for the accurate transmission and understanding of information.Translation is a kind of linguistic service that involves professional ethical problems to be reckoned with.The ethics of translation service require translators to be responsible for the original author as well as to the target readers.
