Chinese landscape painting is a painting form with the spirit of Chinese culture.The landscape painting works of courtyard theme are the emotional destination of literati "seclusion and retreat from the world".Mr.Fang,who was born and bred in Lingnan region,uses his unique visual perspective to depict landscape paintings with courtyard themes with Lingnan regional cultural characteristics.He links Lingnan courtyard with the spirit of literati and created a painting pattern with regional characteristics of the times.He is one of contemporary painters with the characteristics of "literati painting",and also an artist with strong personal artistic style.He not only pays attention to the inheritance and development of traditional painting concepts and techniques,but also emphasizes the combination of traditional ink and contemporary cultural context.Fang xiang has his own unique views on the formal language and spiritual connotation of landscape paintings with courtyard themes,especially the "spirit" expressed in his works,which is praised as "the pure spiritual style of traditional literati paintings".The purpose of this paper is to understand Fang xiang and his courtyard works from the perspective of visual and spiritual feelings in his works of courtyard series,and try to explore new patterns and innovative ways of Chinese landscape painting in contemporary times.This article is divided into four chapters to discuss: The first chapter introduces Fang xiang’s art growth process and the development overview of the expression form of courtyard landscape painting,and analyzes and studies the reasons for Fang xiang’s art formation from four aspects.The second chapter describes his painting language of the landscape painting of the courtyard,and analyzes the characteristics of its painting language in detail from three aspects: composition language,ink language and color language.The third chapter,starting from the spiritual connotation of the landscape painting in Fang xiang’s works,grasps the humanistic feelings in its subject matter content and the innovative ways provided by the transformation of landscape painting style,and further understands the language characteristics of the landscape painting.The fourth chapter summarizes the contemporary reference value of the painting language of the series of courtyard landscape paintings,and discusses the inspiration and thinking of the contemporary landscape painters from the way of Fang xiang’s creation,so as to experience the spirit of landscape painting.
