Study On The Media Image Changes Of Minority Women

In recent years,there has been a clamour of public discussion on the topic of women,and the study of women and media has become a hot spot of wide concern in the academic circle.Ethnic minority women,as a special existence among women,have also become the focus of media and public attention.In the process of mass media reporting news and guiding public opinion,how to construct the image of minority women and whether it truly reflects the whole picture of minority women’s life have become a dimension we need to pay attention to.This thesis sorted out and sampled the reports about ethnic women in China Women’s Daily from its establishment in October 1994 to the end of December2020,conducted quantitative and qualitative research on the samples,and then conducted in-depth research and comprehensive comments on the ethnic women images constructed by China Women’s Daily during this period.How does China Women’s News construct the media image of minority women? What changes did it undergo in the process of construction? What are the problems? It provides a reference direction for the construction of minority female media images in the future.The first chapter uses content analysis method to study the news reports about minority women in China Women’s Daily.Through determining valid samples,category construction and coding,the thesis makes a comprehensive analysis of the situation of minority women reported by the newsthesis.The second chapter focuses on the reporting strategies of China Women’s Daily on minority women and the main images of minority women in news reports.The third chapter analyzes the changes of minority women’s media images in Chinese Women’s Daily.Firstly,the characteristics of minority female media images in different stages are explained.Then it analyzes the changes of minority female media images from five different angles.The fourth chapter analyzes the reasons for the media image changes of minority women.This thesis extends the analysis of the reasons affecting the media image changes of minority women to the social level,and analyzes them from three aspects: national policy,media reform and the rise of individual consciousness.The fifth chapter is a re-examination of the media image changes of minority women.This thesis summarizes the role and shortcomings of ethnic minority female image construction in China Women’s Daily,hoping to provide a reference direction for future news reports and academic research.Finally,the thesis summarizes the evolution of ethnic women in the past37 years and puts forward constructive suggestions on the construction of media images of ethnic women in the future.
