In the context of rural revitalisation, the flourishing of modern rural industries plays an important role in community building. This paper attempts to respond to the question of how rural communities are built in the process of rural de-agrarianisation.Based on the case study of Village H,a rural community that has "left the land but not the countryside",this paper attempts to summarise the development pattern of this type of rural community. This paper mainly adopts the interview and observation methods to collect data, and through analysing the case narratives of nearly 100 residents of rural communities in northern Zhejiang under the model of "industry in the countryside, people stuck in the countryside",the following conclusions are drawn: in the process of developing from traditional agriculture to modern rural industry, the traditional elements and new elements within the community of Village H have undergone a relatively The village community has undergone an organic transformation process.Firstly, the vernacular industry in village H is of a more obvious commercial nature, and it is around the industrial market that the members and subjects within the community have distinctive economic relations in terms of production and interaction patterns, and commercial and productive cooperation occurs, leading to the formation of a village market community centred on the industry, which has also impacted on the traditional nature of the village community originally characterised by traditional agriculture. This has also impacted on the traditional nature of village communities that were originally characterised by traditional agriculture.Secondly,in the evolution of such outward-looking and open village market communities, the geographical boundaries of traditional communities are becoming more blurred and dynamically expanding outwards. The market system around industry has led to the creation of new modes of production, interaction, bonds and value identities among community members, giving rise to modern communities with a strong commercial dimension based on traditional communities.Thirdly, the succession of traditional and new elements in the community is not a fractured and dramatic change, but on the one hand, the intrinsic strengths of the traditional community, such as blood and local ties and other traditional emotional ties, are activated and regenerated, and on the other hand, the modern elements of the industrial market are delicately integrated into the vernacular society, and the organic combination of tradition and modernity makes it possible to play an advantageous role in community building by overlapping The organic combination of tradition and modernity makes it possible to play a double role in community building. The construction of new rural communities is therefore also closely related to the ’transformation’ of traditional rural communities. In a theoretical sense, this paper is a response to the dialogue between the classical "landed population" theory and the new elements of community building in contemporary empirical practice,as well as a summary of the rules of community building in the eastern rural communities with a vernacular industrial base.In a practical sense, this paper hopes that by exploring the institutional construction of urban-rural integration,it will provide some inspiration for the interface between urban and rural communities and the construction of new rural communities in the context of rural revitalisation,as well as give attention to the current situation and future of local and nearby non-farm employment of rural labour.
