With the development of economy and the improvement of life expectancy, the degree of aging in China is deepening. The current legal retirement age is inconsistent with the increasing life expectancy of Chinese residents and the increasing educational level. At the same time,it will bring great pressure to the payment of social pension insurance. How to formulate deferred retirement policy, alleviate the payment pressure of pension fund and give consideration to silver hair human resources development? It is an important issue that China’s old-age insurance policy reform needs to face.Based on the follow-up survey data of China’s health and pension, this paper systematically investigates the impact of social pension insurance on the retirement intention of urban and rural residents by using probit regression model from the perspectives of personal factors, family factors and work factors. It is found that participation in social endowment insurance will promote residents’ retirement intention, and there are significant urban-rural and gender differences in residents’ retirement intention: urban residents’ retirement intention is significantly stronger than rural residents;Since the current retirement age is lower than that of men, more women than men are willing to delay retirement.Family factors also have a significant impact on Residents’ retirement intention: compared with single workers, workers with stable marriage are willing to work longer;Providing care for grandchildren will promote the elderly to work longer hours.
