Since the beginning of the new era,with the wave of globalization and technological revolution,the world situation has been treacherous;at the same time,under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core,China’s arts and culture have flourished,and the Party Central Committee has put forward new requirements for the work of arts and culture in response to the new situation and new problems.Since the 21st century,China’s film market has been booming,and the new mainstream films have made remarkable achievements,and their media characteristics have played a great role in gathering people’s hearts and strengthening national identity.New mainstream films mainly tell and reproduce the rough history of modern China,several wars,and the history of the Party,the State,reform and opening up,and the history of socialist development,highlighting the national spirit and national will of China.Therefore,new mainstream cinema is often regarded as the main battlefield of national identity construction by the academia.However,why do new mainstream films construct national identity?How do new mainstream films construct national identity?What are the levels of national identity construction in new mainstream films?How effective is the construction of national identity in new mainstream films?These questions are worthy of attention and require a series of inquiries.To investigate the construction of national identity in new mainstream films,we need to conduct textual analysis based on new mainstream films.Among many good movies,the new mainstream movie "My People,My Country,My Homeland,My Parents"series has a good reputation and outstanding results,so we choose "My People,My Country,My Homeland,My Parents"series as a sample and use text analysis,comparative analysis,questionnaire survey and other methods to investigate the effect of the movie"My People,My Country,My Homeland,My Parents"series.By using a combination of textual analysis,comparative analysis,and questionnaire survey,we conducted an in-depth study of the "My People,My Country,My Homeland,My Parents"series.Based on the semiotic theory of Charles Sanders Peirce and others,the aesthetics of community and the collective memory theory of MauriceHalbwachs,we analyze the audiovisual language and media platform from the surface to the inside,and conclude that the new mainstream film series "My People,My Country,My Homeland,My Parents"series has a positive role in evoking the common memory of the audience,consolidating the national will and seeking identity.The series of new mainstream films "My People,My Country,My Homeland,My Parents"series has a positive effect on evoking a common memory,consolidating national will and seeking identity.At the same time,in order to verify the effect of the new mainstream movie "My People,My Country,My Homeland,My Parents"series in constructing identity and whether the movie has a positive effect,a questionnaire was conducted to analyze the movie-going audience.According to the results,the use of audio-visual language and other elements in the"My People,My Country,My Homeland,My Parents"series has a positive effect on the construction of national identity and national will,and has produced a good effect of identification.The purpose of analyzing new mainstream films from the perspective of constructing identity is to explore a rich vein of national identity construction from a multi-level perspective,and also to summarize the problems exposed by the current new mainstream films,and to propose a prospect for the future development of national identity construction in new mainstream films to help the construction of a strong socialist culture.
