A Study On Coping Strategies Of Emergencies In Private Colleges And Universities

As the higher education is popular and universal,private colleges and universities are becoming more and more important in social development.Private colleges and universities are increasing both in the number of students and in the scale of running campus nowadays.At the same time,the emergency incidents take place frequently in the private colleges and universities.However,there are not many relevant studies on it because private colleges and universities are relatively short of social resources and weak in public crisis handling.Therefore,this paper analyzes the current situation of emergency crisis management in private colleges and universities in terms of the public crisis management theory and the theory of crisis life cycle,starting with the cases of private colleges and universities in Jiangxi.And this paper adopts research methods from the individual to the general.By researching the typical case,we can conclude the common problems of the emergency management in private colleges and universities.It is hoped that we can solve the event by analyzing the main source of these problems in depth.This paper discusses how private colleges and universities establish and improve the crisis management system to deal with emergencies,discusses its important contents in detail,and then puts forward countermeasures and suggestions for private colleges and universities to manage emergencies by studying lots of books related the subject at home and abroad.This paper includes five chapters: the first is the introduction.The second is the basic concepts and theoretical basis involved in this paper,describes the concepts of emergencies,types and crisis management in private colleges and universities,and introduces the crisis life cycle theory and 4R crisis management theory for providing a theoretical basis for the discussion of this paper.The third chapter mainly points out the current situation of crisis management in a Jiangxi university and writes the shortage and deficiency of the private colleges and universities in crisis management by analyzing the case of blocking the school gate and the novel coronavirus pneumonia.The fourth part mainly discusses the problems and causes of emergency management in private colleges and universities from the perspectives of social environmental factors,school own factors,student factors and so on.The last chapter puts forward some strategic suggestions to improve the emergency crisis management of private colleges and universities based on the above analysis and summarizes the existing problems : cultivate crisis management professionals in private colleges and universities,strengthening the crisis awareness of teachers and students to reduce the occurrence of crisis;Take the crisis information disposal of private colleges and universities seriously;Think highly of the establishment and improvement about the public crisis early warning system in private colleges and universities;Attach great importance to the rapid response mechanism for private colleges and universities;Improve the public crisis management function of private colleges and universities and improve the ability to deal with emergencies;Strengthen the psychological intervention of the crisis and the psychological rehabilitation and reflection after the crisis.Improve the crisis management mechanism of private colleges and universities from different stages and angles,and improve the emergency response ability of private colleges and universities.
