Research On The Impact Of Political News Using On National Identity Among College Students

National identity is an important issue closely related to national construction,development,and social stability,which not only greatly determines the legitimacy of a country but also directly affects its stability and prosperity.Political news using is an important influencing factor in the formation of national identity.As the future and hope of the country,the national identity of college students is closely related to China’s political process and long-term development.In addition,this study introduces political trust and political efficacy as mediator variables closely related to the research,and media literacy as a moderating variable,constructing a moderated chain mediation model to explore the mechanism of political news using on college students’ national identity.Convenience sampling was used in this study to select 420 undergraduate,master’s,and doctoral students as the survey participants.Data was collected through on-site questionnaires and a moderated chain mediation model was constructed to investigate the mechanism of political news using on national identity.The theoretical basis of this study includes cultivation theory,political socialization theory,and uses and gratifications theory.After collecting and cleaning the data,quantitative analysis was performed using software such as SPSS and AMOS,and descriptive statistics,correlation analysis,and regression analysis were used to test the hypotheses.Empirical research results show that in terms of the relevant relationships,the four variables of political news using,political efficacy,political trust,and national identity are positively correlated with each other.Political news using can positively predict college students’ national identity.Political efficacy plays a mediating role in the relationship between political news using and national identity.Political trust plays a mediating role in the relationship between political news using and national identity.Political efficacy and political trust play a chain mediation role in the relationship between political news using and national identity.Media literacy moderates the relationship between political news using and political efficacy,that is,the higher the media literacy,the stronger the impact of political news using on political efficacy.Based on the empirical research conclusions,this paper further proposes to enrich college students’ political news using from the perspective of both the university and society;enhance college students’political efficacy by improving their political literacy and encouraging their political participation;strengthen college students’ political trust by providing high-quality public services,transparency,and democratic participation;and enhance college students’ media literacy by cultivating their information acquisition and processing abilities and practical education.Finally,the shortcomings of this study are summarized,and research prospects are proposed accordingly.
