Research On Marx And Engels’ Residential Thought

Housing is not only a livelihood issue related to the vital interests of thousands of families,but also a development issue related to the overall economic and social situation.With the rapid advancement of China’s urbanization and the rapid development of housing marketization,the per capita living area of urban residents has been greatly improved compared with the initial stage of reform and opening up,but there are also some problems such as the relative lack of housing social functions and the virtual high price of housing.Although Marx and Engels have no systematic housing theory,there are a large number of housing thoughts to be excavated in their works,and these housing thoughts have important enlightenment significance to better solve the housing problems in contemporary China.Marx and Engels paid attention to the living conditions of the working class and further analyzed the housing problems faced by the working class under the background of industrialization and urbanization in Europe.The housing problem should be understood in the criticism of Marx and Engels on the capitalist mode of production.Therefore,they believe that making workers obtain housing ownership can not solve the housing problem,and analyze the solution of this problem at the level of eliminating the opposition between urban and rural areas.From the perspective of contemporary theory,the critical logic of Marx and Engels’ residential thought can be carried out from three dimensions: residential justice criticism,political economy criticism based on land rent theory and virtual capital criticism,and these three dimensions have had a wide and profound theoretical influence in contemporary times.Marx and Engels’ housing thought enlightens us that housing should return to its use value rather than become a financial asset;China’s urbanization path should focus on building a new type of urban-rural relationship,realize coordinated and balanced development between urban and rural areas,and avoid excessive concentration of population in cities;Adhere to the development direction of human urbanization,strengthen the construction of affordable housing,and protect the rights of migrant workers to enter the city.
