| Lao PDR is a developing country with abundant natural resources, but it faces development challenges due to its landlocked location and expensive trade costs.Laos has entered the international and regional community in order to improve cooperation on economic, political, and social fronts in order to overcome its geographic disadvantage and shed its label as a least developed nation by 2022.in particularly becoming a complete member of the World Trade Organization in 2013.More significantly,Laos has been a complete participant in ASEAN and yet is uncertain whether the AEC will benefit or harm its economy. The main objectives of this article are to raise knowledge of the ASEAN Economic Community(AEC),the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement, and the ASEAN Free Movement,as well as the contribution of Lao foreign policy to ASEAN and economic cooperation. The thesis also examined at the major issues with Laos’ implementation of AEC regulations, which are still difficult to implement and have imbalances that are unique to Laos,as well as future opportunities and difficulties for Laos following the launch of AEC.The paper also increased information of ASEAN in principle, demonstrating how the Lao economic situation has evolved, understanding of ASEAN in detail, and its role in regards to contribution to the 10 ASEAN nations. The both quantitative and qualitative analyses carried out for this study suggest that Laos has somewhat more challenges than opportunities. In order to turn these obstacles into possibilities, involvement from all interested parties is crucial. The current analysis offers strong justification for Laos’ s efforts to enhance trade-related infrastructure, bolstering regional economic integration, and generally enhancing the corporate environment. These behaviors suggest that Laos could indeed overcome its inherent disadvantage of being a landlocked country, which would help the country’s continued economic integration and allow for a smooth transition once Laos departs the group of least developed countries. |
