Based on the analysis to the basic theory and the effectiveness of the practice of the regional economic integration in the developing countries, the thesis argues that there are permanent internal drawbacks existing in the South-to-South regional economic integration, and the developing countries should take North-to-South free trade region as the future developing orientation. The thesis especially explores the issue concerning China's participation in North-to-South free trade region, analyzing its necessity and offering the specific suggestions on the corresponding policies.Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 conclude the theory and practice of the regional economic integration in the developing countries. It points out that the regional economic integration in the developing countries has its own special theory besides the influence by the general economic theory and the inspiration derived from the successful practice in the regional economic integration in the developed countries .That is the center of the strucrurism - the theory of periphery and the radicalistic theory of the international dependence , both of which state that the modern world economic system is unreasonable and the developing countries need to practice the regional economic integration so as to pursue the success of the economic development. According to the viewpoint of Center-Periphery theory, modern world economic system is unreasonable, which only benefits the developed countries while devastates the economic development of the developing countries. To achieve the success of the economic development, the developing countries need to practice the industrial strategy of import, strengthen the internal economic cooperation in order to get rid of the side effect of the traditional world economic system. The radicalistic theory of the international dependence makes the comparison between the developed countries and the developing countries concerning the inside and outside conditions, systems, history, politics as well as present situations, arguing that the relationship between the two is "controlling-depending", that is, the rich control the poor, the poor depends on the rich and is exploited by the rich. Based on this theory, the experts point out that the developing countries must carry out the complete economic and systematic reform and the internal regional economic integration to get rid of the independence on the developed countries and pursue the practical economic development.Chapter 2 reviews and analyzes the practice of South-to - South regional economic integration. Whereas, the practice across half of the century proves that the regional economic integration in developing countries didn't meet the expectation, let alone achieve the success as the developed countries. The prevailing wisdom for the failure is that every member state hasn't satisfactorily enforced the measures of the regional economic integration. While the writer of the thesis argues that it lacks the essential factors to realize the South-to-South regional economic integration because of its internal defects:!. The smaller domestic market in developing countries is not capable of introducing the goods from other member states; 2. It's hard for the developing countries to form close relationship in division of labour;3. It's tough to coordinate the policies of the South-to-South regional economic integration;4. There is a great transfer effect in trading in the South-to-South regional economic integration.Chapter 3 explores the developing orientation of the regional economic integration in the developing countries. It points out that north-to- south free trade region should be adopted in the regional e...
