Research On The Impact Of Performance Perception On Government Trust

As one of the important sources of governing legitimacy,government trust can not only lubricate the society,but also play an important supporting and promoting role in the process of improving government governance efficiency.Under the new journey,to enhance trust in the government in an all-round way is not only necessary for the Communist Party of China to strengthen the feelings of the people,but also necessary for accelerating the realization of Chinese-style modernization.Among the existing researches on influencing factors of government trust,the significant role played by government performance has attracted extensive attention from scholars at home and abroad,but few scholars have conducted multidimensional studies on the impact of performance perception on government trust from a micro-perspective.Based on CSS2019 data,this paper empirically analyzes the impact of performance perception on the trust of central,district,county and township governments,and finds that performance perception has a significant positive impact on government trust.From the perspective of interactive influence,the five types of performance perception have different influences on government trust,and the level difference is basically consistent with the pattern of differential trust,that is,the higher the level of trust,the fewer factors affecting the performance perception.Specifically,economic development performance perception does not significantly affect government trust;The perception of political integrity performance has a significant positive effect on the three-level government trust;Social security performance perception has a significant positive effect on the trust of the three levels of government,and it is more strong in the grass-roots government.The perceived performance of government response has a significant positive impact on the trust of grassroots governments,but does not involve the central government level.The perception of ecological governance performance has a significant positive effect on the trust of township government,but does not involve the central government and district and county government level.Then,this paper introduces political participation as an intermediary variable and finds that there are mediating paths of "social security performance perception-direct political participation behavior-central/county/township government trust" and "political integrity performance perception-indirect political participation behavior-township government trust".Finally,the paper puts forward the following policy suggestions: first,firmly build a clean government under the leadership of the Party’s political construction;Second,we will improve the social security system and consolidate trust in the government.Third,continue to change the concept of government service,improve the responsiveness of grassroots governments;Fourth,focus on rural ecological governance,build livable and beautiful towns;Fifth,we should actively shape healthy political participation and build harmonious relations between the government and the people.
