A Study On Marx And Engels’ View Of Women

Under the guidance of dialectical materialism and historical materialism,based on Marx and Engels’ classic works,and on the basis of absorbing and drawing on the existing theoretical achievements,this paper deeply studies the social background,theoretical sources,logical evolution and basic content of the formation of Marx and Engels’ concept of women,and on this basis discusses the contemporary value of Marx and Engels’ concept of women.In the process of studying human history,Marx and Engels used dialectical materialism and historical materialism to discuss women’s problems and development process,and pointed out the necessity of women’s liberation.They believed that in the age of ignorance,women were not only on an equal footing with men,but often had a higher status.Women in the barbaric era had a more free and respected status,but at the advanced stage,women gradually declined because of male domination and slave competition.Until the era of civilization,because of the emergence of big industry,women,young people and children played an important role in the production activities of social organizations outside the family.Big industry also created an economic foundation for women and a higher level of family and gender relations between men and women.He believed that the female problem changed with the evolution of human history,and it was restricted by the imbalance of material production and human production.In this social form,the degree of women’s liberation is the standard to measure the liberation of all mankind.Marx has discussed women’s issues in Holy Family,The Status of the British Working Class,Communist Manifesto,The Origin of Family,Private Ownership and the State,Capital and many other works,as well as in a large number of social correspondence.Marx critically inherited the bourgeois enlightenment thought and the rational elements of the 19 th century utopian socialists’ theory of women’s liberation,and he scientifically explained the historical process from the equality of men and women in the primitive society to the formation of women’s oppressed status and the intensification of different social forms by using historical materialism.It points out that the oppressed status of women is gradually formed with the development of human social production.Marx believed that the emergence of private ownership and class was the root cause of women’s problems.The emergence of women’s problems has certain economic and class roots.As a powerful force for social development,if women can not be liberated,then the liberation of all mankind can not be achieved.Marx pointed out that the primary condition for realizing women’s liberation is to let women re-enter the social labor,and the realization of human liberation is the fundamental goal of the development of the whole human society.The fundamental path of human liberation is to achieve the liberation of non productive levels.The ultimate goal of women’s emancipation and human emancipation is to achieve the freedom and full development of the human person.Marx and Engels’ view on women not only provides an important ideological source for the liberation and development of contemporary Chinese women,but also points out the direction for the development of Chinese women.
