| Dual Career in sport is that athletes could receive systematic school education or have their own job while participating in high-level sports training and competition,and it’s also called the mode in which sports and education/work could develop together.Based on the background of sports and education integration,this study aims to investigate the development of college student-athletes using Dual Career conception,so as to provide suggestions for the development of student-athletes and the high-level sports teams in colleges and universities.In order to analyze Dual Career Competency and Dual Career Development Environment of student-athletes,the questionnaire was sent to 800 student-athletes who have participated in CUBA,and several coaches,student-athletes and staff participated in the interview.The research results of this dissertation show that:(1)It shows that the Social Intelligence&Adaptability is the strongest,but the Dual Career Planning is weakest among the student-athletes’ Dual Career Competency.The result of difference analysis among several groups of student-athletes shows that male student-athletes’ Dual Career competency is significantly higher than female student-athletes’,and freshman student-athletes’Dual Career competency is significantly higher than other grades.(2)In terms of Social Intelligence&Adaptability,the student-athletes were less able to seek advice from others.In the aspect of Dual Career Emotional Awareness,the student-athletes have a high level of self-confidence,but they need to improve their ability to deal with setbacks and concentration.As for Dual Career Management,student-athletes have high willingness and motivation to develop Dual Career,but poor self-discipline.In terms of Dual Career Planning,student-athletes have a good understanding of future career choice,but lack of initiative and ability towards career planning.(3)Among the different domains of student-athletes’ Dual Career development environment,the development level of private life domain is the highest,while the study domain and sports domain are relatively worse.The result of difference analysis among student-athletes’Dual Career development environment shows that the student-athletes who are at the basic level get less support of sports than others,and the Dual Career development environment of the student-athletes who are of eastern competition divisions is better than that in the western competition divisions.(4)In terms of private life domain,student-athletes have a high level of social support,but their time for rest,recovery and campus activities participation is insufficient.In terms of sports domain,the training conditions of student-athletes can meet the actual needs,but the level of other support needs to be improved.As for the study domain,flexible attendance regulation is conducive to their systematic training,but universities need to provide better academic support to help student-athletes with their study.Therefore,The Ministry of Education and colleges should implement the integration of sports and education and actively take measures towards the problems existing in student-athletes’ Dual Career competency and Dual Career development environment.It should include the establishment and improvement of management system,the establishment of Dual Career training courses,the improvement of college sports team construction,and so on,so as to help student-athletes better balance the relationship between study and sports,and realize all-round development. |
