Research On Narrative Strategy Of Sports Reality Shows

Since the development of domestic sports reality shows in 1998,it has become a force that cannot be ignored in the TV market.After several twists and turns,the reality sports show is always advancing in exploration.Among the many sports reality shows,the sports reality sports show not only meets the audience’s viewing expectations,but also can mobilize the audience’s enthusiasm for participation.Although it is in its infancy,it has shown strong momentum.In order to find the common narrative strategy of sports competitive reality sports shows and the narrative characteristics of the "Dunk of China" series.The thesis selected " Stars in Danger:The High Dive","Celebrity Splash","The Next Star","The King of Kanone","Game On","Dunk of China",a total of 86 programs of the 6 typical sports,competitive sports reality shows,are used as the research object.On the basis of collecting and sorting out relevant literature of narratology,journalism and communication,TV narratology,film narratology,etc.,the author watched the program repeatedly,and carried out specific research by comprehensively using literature research method,text analysis method and case analysis method,in order to explore the direction of continuous improvement and development of such programs in the aspect of narrative.First of all,from the vertical and horizontal dimensions,the domestic sports reality show was summarized.According to the number and changing trend of domestic sports reality shows every year,its development process can be divided into four stages:initial period,preliminary development period,low ebb period and innovation and exploration period.According to the content of the program,it can be roughly classified into four types:survival challenge,national fitness,star variety show and sports competition.Secondly,from the narrative content(story)and narrative discourse two aspects to explore the common narrative strategy of sports competitive reality sports shows.This paper summarizes the competition in the narrative content(story)of the program,the three common themes of the hero and Cinderella,the plot setting characteristics of the stars and the moon,the characterization method of the combination of flat characters and round characters,and the narrative action of binary opposition.In the aspect of program narrative discourse,the change of the narrator’s role,the characteristics of narrative time with single time interval and rich time interval and the use of multiple narrative perspectives are summarized.Thirdly,"Dunk of China" is taken as a specific case to further demonstrate the above conclusions from four aspects:the application of Cinderella motif,flat character setting,the guiding role of the grand narrator and the repeated use of limiting narrative perspective.It also analyzes three new narrative features in the program:the comprehensive use of narrative symbols,the accurate grasp of narrative context and the initial involvement in cross-media narration.Finally,from the practical significance of sports sports reality show,the future development trend,the problems to be avoided and cross-media narrative suggestions are considered,and it is believed that it will become an important driving force for the development of public sports,sports industry and competitive sports.However,attention should be paid to avoiding three problems:homogenization,over-exaggeration and neglect of the essence of "truth" in sports.In order to realize the importance of cross-media narrative,intertextual production,interactive narrative and the extension of cross-media narrative should be explored in the future,so as to promote the benign and diversified development of such programs.
