| Depression of college students is an important part of mental health education in colleges. With the development of research,as a transitional state from non-depression to depression, subthreshold depression has received more and more attention.College students in the critical period of psychological maturity often need to face many stressful events independently in life, and it is easy to fall into subthreshold depression if they can’t handle them properly.Previous studies have found that father involvement had an important effect on children’s mental health, and father-child attachment status and children’s regulatory emotional self-efficacy can effectively help individuals deal with depression. Therefore, based on previous studies, this paper introduces father-child attachment and regulatory emotional self-efficacy to explore the influential mechanism of father involvement on college students’ subthreshold depression. This paper includes two studies:Study 1: 696 students from two colleges are selected in this study and “the Father Involvement Scale”,“Father Attachment Scale”,“Regulatory Emotional Self-efficacy Scale” and“Subthreshold Depression Scale” are used to demonstrated the status and relationship of father involvement,father-child attachment, regulatory emotional self-efficacy and subthreshold depression.Study 2: Semi-structured interviews are conducted with 10 university students to further supplement the results of the questionnaire survey. The results are as follows:(1)There are significant family structure differences, family monthly income per capita differences, frequency of contact with father differences, father figure, fathers’ occupation differences and fathers’ education differences in father involvement;(2)There are significant family structure differences, frequency of contact with father differences and fathers’ occupation differences in father-child attachment;(3)There are significant family monthly income per capita differences and frequency of contact with father differences and fathers’ occupation differences in regulatory emotional self-efficacy;(4)There are significant gender differences, family structure differences, frequency of contact with father differences, fathers’ occupation differences and birth order differences in subthreshold depression;(5)There are correlations among every four variables: father involvement,father-child attachment and regulatory emotional self-efficacy are positively correlated.Father involvement,father-child attachment and regulatory emotional self-efficacy are negatively correlated with subthreshold depression;(6)Father-child attachment and regulatory emotional self-efficacy both play a mediating role between father involvement and subthreshold depression,father-child attachment and regulatory emotional self-efficacy also play a chain intermediary role between father involvement and subthreshold depression. |
