Research On The Phenomenon Of Idol Worship In Fandom And The Possible Approach Of Network Social Work Intervention From The Perspective Of Strength

With the advent and vigorous development of the information age,online communities have sprung up in an endless stream,among which the Fandom with teenagers as the main force has continuously entered the field of vision of the public in recent years,becoming an online subculture group that cannot be ignored.Fandom,all kinds of fans based on the common aesthetic orientation and hobbies,spontaneously gathered to form a network or online communities.Previous research has focused on the shortcomings of fans and Fandom from a problem perspective,which will not only deepen the stereotype of non-Fandom members who are already wearing colored glasses on the Fandom,but also subtly promote the self-depreciation and cowardice of the Fandom to change.Fandom is a phenomenon that occurs when teenagers pursue self-identity at a certain stage of development.In fact,idols represent the ideal self of fans,and fans all have the inner strength and advantageous resources to become ideal self.Starting from the strength perspective,this study pays attention to the advantages and resources of the Fandom,and on the basis of the practice of traditional social work intervening in the Fandom,drawing on the experience gained in other fields of network social work,and exploring the possible approaches of network or online community such as network social work intervention in Fandom.Based on the background of the current public opinion environment in society,the governments’ rectification of the chaos of the Fandom,and the author’s personal experience,the study focuses on the idol worship phenomenon of the Fandom.The Fandom here is mainly joined by the author.Two online fan communities.The research questions of this paper include what kind of problems and dilemmas are Fandom currently facing;second,what kind of mentality does Fandom have towards the status quo and what are their needs,under the guidance of the strength perspective,what are the possible approaches for social workers to intervene in the Fandom.In terms of theoretical framework,this research chooses the strength perspective,pays attention to the power and resources of the Fandom,especially puts the power and resources in the perspective of society,and considers how the Fandom is affected and restricted by the society.And on this basis,the possible approaches of intervention are explored in a targeted manner for mining and exerting the advantageous resources of the Fandom.In terms of research methods this study adopts the method of network ethnography,and went deep into two Fandom for more than a year of participation and observation,and interacted and talked with as many fans as possible during this period.In each Fandom,26 fans were selected as online interview subjects,and 30 non-fans were selected offline as offline interview subjects,and in-depth interviews were conducted with them.After research,it was found that the Fandom is now facing the dual dilemma of internal and external,the collective identity of the fans within the Fandom is low,and the contradictions between different types of Fandom are frequent;The external "non-Fandom"has a one-sided cultural stance on the Fandom,capital businesses deliberately guide the Fandom unreasonable idol worship in pursuit of profit,and the unscrupulous media reports falsely or one-sidedly the news of the Fandom in order to attract traffic,And the national remediation action is still insufficient.For changing the current predicament,fans of the Fandom have different mentalities and are generally negative.The author assessed the needs of the Fandom and learned that they have needs for identification,communication,respect,remediation and assistance.On the intervention approaches,explore possible approach for network social work to intervene in the Fandom.Integrate resources before intervention to prepare for intervention.After that,combine the basic approaches of traditional social work with big data,think about possible approaches for network casework,network groupwork,and network community work to get involved in the Fandom,and emphasizes the full use of social workers’ role as policy advocates to assist the government to carry out rectification actions for the chaos in the Fandom.The Fandom is an online community composed of fans,and with the intervention and promotion of commercial capital,more complex cultural phenomena appear on the Internet,which is not conducive to the healthy growth of young fans.If there is no professional intervention and guidance,it may become a difficult problem in network governance.This paper only draws on the practical experience of traditional social work to explore the possible approaches for network social work to intervene in the Fandom,which is also the content of the author’s further research in the future.
