In the context of the upgrading of the industrial structure,service personnel in the catering industry are faced with a more complex working environment,so they should have advanced thinking abilities such as analyzing and dealing with problems,flexible innovation and strain response.The huge gap of high-quality service personnel in the catering industry reflects the urgency of cultivating senior thinking talents,while the neglect of intellectual training and the lack of intellectual activities in the actual secondary vocational class reflect the necessity of implementing intellectual teaching.Successful intelligence theory is a theory proposed by American psychologist Sternberg to promote the cultivation of students’ intelligence.According to the theory,successful intelligence is a comprehensive ability necessary to achieve success in personal life,including analytical,practical and creative intelligence.In addition,Sternberg used successful intelligence theory in practical teaching to form a series of teaching strategies to cultivate successful intelligence,which can provide teaching improvement basis for the improvement of secondary vocational students’ intelligence level.From the perspective of intelligence training and under the guidance of successful intelligence theory,this study carried out the teaching design research of catering Service and Management course,trying to promote the improvement of students’ analytical,practical and creative intelligence through the improvement of teaching design,and help the long-term development of students’ career.This paper first expounds the relevant basic concepts,clarifies the basic connotation of successful intelligence theory and the teaching application under the guidance of this theory,and analyzes the characteristics of teaching design under successful intelligence theory.Then,taking Y Secondary Vocational School of Kunming as an example,the investigation is carried out to investigate the current situation of intelligence teaching of catering service and management course of High Star Hotel Operation and Management by using the methods of questionnaire survey,observation and interview,and to find the existing problems in intelligence teaching of the course.Secondly,to analyze the causes of the problem,under the guidance of success intelligence theory to find the way to solve the problem.Thirdly,according to the ideas,the path of teaching design under the theory of success intelligence is defined.The path contains the basis,framework and mode,and the framework and mode are constructed under the guidance of the basis.After that,under the guidance of the path to complete the "catering service and management" course teaching design,take "welcome service" as an example to give a specific explanation of the teaching design process.The main results of the research are the practical framework,operation mode and teaching design process of the curriculum teaching design of catering service and management in secondary vocational schools under the theory of successful intelligence.The main innovation of the research is to consider the types and characteristics of Vocational Education in the teaching design,combine the successful intelligence theory and its teaching application with the action-oriented teaching method system,and focus on cultivating students’ analytical,practical and creative intelligence while teaching students’ basic knowledge and skills,which is conducive to students’ lifelong development.Successful intelligence is a new concept of intelligence based on students’ lifelong development.
